Interlibrary Loan

Return and Renew Materials

DUE DATES can be found in the following places: 

  1. Login to your ILL account.  You will see a due date in the "Status" column. 
  2. Look at the checkout slip of placed inside the book/item
  3. Look for a sticker label provided by the lending library.
  4. Email the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator (umill@montevallo.edu).

To request RENEWAL of an item:

  1. Login to your ILL account.
  2. Find the item you want to renew and click the blue "Renew Request" button in the "Status" column.   
    • This is not a guaranteed renewal.  A new due date (if the lending library agrees) will be issued for this item. You will receive an email, and the item will be updated on your account if a new due date is issued.  If the lending library does not agree to renew the item, the original due date stands. Items may not be kept past the due date for any reason.
  3. For your own benefit, please allow at least five days before the due date to initiate a renewal request. Overdue items are not eligible for renewal. You will need to return them immediately and then contact ILL staff to put a new request in to another library. We will make very effort to obtain a book for you when this happens. 

NOTE: If the "Renew Request" Link is not available, it is possible the renewal request was already sent or that the lending library has specified "No Renewal". Please return the item by the due date and contact the ILL staff to request a copy from another library ASAP. You can reach us at 205-665-6103 or umill@montevallo.edu .
