Students will identify a dietary supplement, vitamin, mineral, or macronutrient that is of interest to them and that is reputed to improve athletic performance. Each student will then research his/her topic using a minimum of 5 peer-reviewed references and write a 3 to 5 page paper critically evaluating the effectiveness, benefits, and/or harm of that substance. Papers must be in APA format.

Suggested journals to use include but are not limited to: The International Journal of Sports Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism; The Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; The Journal of Sports Sciences; The Journal of the American Dietetic Association; The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition; and The Journal of Sports Medicine and Physical Fitness
